Often, sustainability begins in the details. At its Bugyi location, OBO has taken precisely that approach, focusing on a seemingly small, but high-impact component of our packaging solution: the straps.

To ensure safe transport of our goods, our products are packed carefully, stacked on sturdy pallets and fixed reliably with straps. At the same time, it is our goal to continuously make our packaging materials more sustainable.

By changing from an 0.8 mm to a 0.7 mm-thick plastic strap, we have managed to reduce our material use without compromising on load safety or process stability.

This saves around 1,000 kg of carbon emissions annually at the OBO Bugyi location. A seemingly small step with a measurable effect.

This measure shows that even minor adjustments along the value chain can make a real contribution to saving resources. At the same time, this approach offers potential to be implemented across locations and can serve as a best practice for further optimisations in the area of packaging and logistics.
