Doing good together: OBO supports food rescue at Light + Building
For OBO, Light + Building was more than just a resounding success. It was yet another step on the path towards greater sustainability. Besides a resource-saving stand concept, a spotlight was also placed on the social dimension: together with our long-standing exhibition service partner Melles & Stein, we actively participated in a food rescue campaign that benefited people in need on a daily basis.
OBO relied on ecological and economical solutions right from the start when building its stand. We were awarded the Better Stands Silver certificate – further evidence of our commitment to design more sustainable exhibition stands. But for us, sustainability goes beyond the materials we use. Responsible handling of food also played an important role during the trade fair.
More than just an exhibitor: OBO donates surplus food
Each day of the fair, surplus, freshly prepared food was gathered and handed over to the food pantry in the evening. On the last day of the event, coffee, snacks, biscuits and other foods were also included. Thanks to Melles & Stein, the food pantry was able to simply drive onto the fairgrounds and collect the food without any problems. The result was a well-thought-out food rescue concept that had an immediate impact – day after day throughout the entire fair.
This project shows how sustainable catering solutions at trade fairs can deliver not only environmental but also social benefits. Food that would have otherwise gone to waste was put to good use, supporting people who depend on it.
Sustainability in action
Sustainability is a core pillar of both OBO and Melles & Stein’s corporate strategy. This shared food rescue campaign underscores just how important the careful selection of our partners and service providers is – with a clear focus on responsible action.
We are thrilled to have contributed together with our partners, and to have shown how sustainability and trade fair concepts can go hand in hand. Responsibility often begins in the details – and has an impact right where it’s needed.
