New PDP pluggable data line protection devices

OBO’s combined lightning and surge protection for information and automation technology

Instrumentation and controls are at the heart of modern industrial companies, so they need protecting against inductive and capacitive coupling damage, which can cause production losses and considerable financial harm.

OBO Bettermann’s new PDP (Pluggable Data line Protection device) has a bandwidth of 100 MHz, making it highly versatile. Tested to DIN EN 61643-21 (D1/C2), the pluggable data line protection devices offer reliable instrumentation and control protection with a lightning current conducting capacity of 5 kA.

Pluggable arresters mean a high level of system availability because they are easy to replace without interrupting signals.

The PDP is available in four voltage versions: 5, 12, 24 and 48 V, each with either 2 or 2 x 2 signal wires per cable in versions for directly and indirectly earthed shielding systems.

The arresters’ voltage keying prevents the upper and base parts from being wrongly assigned. The arresters are just 12.5 mm wide when installed, and are mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail. They can be earthed via the DIN rail or via a screw terminal.
