Lightning barrier with quadruple advantage

High number of poles, slim design and also the option of testing whilst installed: OBO’s new MDP lightning barriers (Measured and Data line Protection) combine properties previously only available in separate products.

Advantage 1, compact design:
with a width of just 8 mm, the lightning barrier can be installed easily in distributor cabinets, where there is little available space.

Advantage 2, variety:
the lightning barriers are available in 5 V, 24 V and 48 V versions with two, three or four poles.

Advantage 3, flexibility:
the internal circuit structure permits use in all kinds of measurement and control circuits: from voltage-controlled signal applications through to 4–20 mA sensors. The protective, low capacity and inductivity shell allows use in DC applications for signals of up to 100 MHz. It is also possible to interconnect individual or multiple lightning barriers using a shared earthing bridge.

Advantage 4, life measurement:
the Life Control testing unit, developed by OBO Bettermann, now allows testing of the integrated protective elements during operation, without influencing or interrupting the measurement circuit – that is innovation made by OBO. There is no need to remove the protective unit or switch off the signal circuit for measurement.
